Magic Pie is a magical oasis for pizza

Is this the best pizza in Norwalk?

Hidden in the courtyard of what was once a former hat factory, Magic 5 Pie Co offers pizza and salads with nods to Norwalk’s history and lore. Today, the complex is both new and old, with the former factory home to the Brim and Crown apartments. The Courtyard faces the train tracks and lies off Rowan Street, a narrow street that connects Osborne Ave. to East Ave. and is the gateway to East Norwalk, which explains the sleepy East Norwalk train station that is adjacent.

Bear with the endless construction that either the City of Norwalk or the State inflict on the area; the address says East Ave, but a driveway off Rowan is your better access. Once you find the open courtyard with its blend of modern industrial and clam shell beach vibe, you will enjoy the commuter trains rolling by over a local brew or cocktail. The beverage craft scene has always been a thing in Norwalk, and many national brands have their roots in the area, not to mention food products that have changed the world, from Bigelow Teas and Pepperidge Farm to Bear Naked Granola.

Magic 5 Pie follows those pioneers with new takes on what to put on pizza. You can do your own without fuss, and the menu offers sides that can stand alone as a snack or meal. With salads, veggies, and baked crocks of flavors, the crew at Magic 5 Pie delivers an eclectic menu. When sitting outside isn’t your thing, the tables and bar inside seamlessly blend the light of the outdoors with the comforts of being inside. In either case the nights are buzzy, so call for reservations to get seated right away. Or plan for takeout.
